Family First: Building Wellness Within the Family


In this free, three-session series, our panel of local professionals talk about ways to build and support a healthy family. Get the whole family moving with fun family exercise opportunities each session. This is a family event, so children are encouraged to attend. Comfortable apparel and tennis shoes are ideal for participation.

  • How sleep improves health and growth
  • How to get children - and the whole family - physically active

Session 2: Wellness Beyond Numbers

Health and wellness are more than numbers on a scale, or a clothing size. In this session, we will talk about the many aspects of wellness, and how your family can build a healthy lifestyle for all family members.

  • What wellness means for children and families
  • How wellness affects physical, mental and emotional health
  • The relationship between food and wellness
  • Lifestyle and social choices that promote wellness

Session 3: Me to We - Incorporating Healthy Habits in the Family

For a family to be healthy, all members must be engaged to create habits and make choices that benefit everyone. Our final session will talk about how families can work together to support each other and stay focused on good health and well being.

  • Understanding barriers to healthy lifestyle choices
  • What to do if you get 'off track'
  • How to create family goals (short-term and long-term)
  • Healthy meals everyone can agree on
